About

35 Years Experience

I started playing Dungeons & Dragons in the fifth grade when my mom brought home a little red box that simply said Dungeons & Dragons. Not Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. Just Dungeons & Dragons. Within days I was the Dungeon Master, running adventures for a friend during lunch at school. After collecting more of the boxed sets and a few AD&D books, my interest eventually drifted elsewhere, but D&D found me again in college. In 1990 I landed in a dorm full of gamers, most of whom were playing AD&D 2nd Edition. We spent weekends calculating THAC0, rolling dice, and somehow failing college math classes at the same time. I was usually the DM, building adventures from notebooks, index cards, and whatever ideas came to me while sitting alone in the university cafeteria. Most of those campaigns were improvised on the fly. Over the years life pulled me away from gaming more than once. Careers, marriages, moves, and responsibilities came and went, but D&D always found its way back. I gathered new groups, made lifelong friends, introduced family members to the hobby, and spent decades behind the DM screen. In 2022, Bryan Britt and I helped build a new group. That eventually grew into something much bigger. In 2024, alongside Bryan Britt, Corbin Byers, Michael Frazier, Dawson Frazier, Houston Frazier, and Chase Schubert, we launched The Ring of Destiny. We began playing in public at Roll and Play Nerd Bistro in Conway, Arkansas. What started as practice recordings soon became a live production. After bringing in Dan Decker as our Production Master, we officially went live on Twitch on January 1, 2025. Today, The Ring of Destiny continues to grow. We've moved from a noisy game store into our own studio space, but one thing hasn't changed. After more than four decades in the hobby, I'm still doing what I started doing in fifth grade: Sitting behind the screen, telling stories, and rolling dice as The Gen-X GM.
