Use Paizo and Archives of Nethys for rules, Pathfinder Nexus for character building, Foundry VTT for online play, and Archivist for session capture, reviewed recaps, and campaign memory. Obsidian or Notion can serve as a manually maintained campaign wiki.
Why Pathfinder Campaigns Need Clear Tool Boundaries
Pathfinder 2e's Remaster and ongoing errata can change terminology. Check rules answers against current Paizo or Archives of Nethys sources, and keep table rulings labeled as rulings.
Best Pathfinder 2e Tools by Job
| Job | Tool | Why it fits |

Pathfinder in Archivist’s Campaign Data
Pathfinder 2e made up 5.8% of tagged active campaigns in Archivist's September 7, 2026 admin snapshot. Its share of sessions has grown too. In the August 2026 research snapshot, Pathfinder went from 5.6% of sessions in 2025 Q2 to 10.0% in 2026 Q2.
These are Archivist product aggregates, not market share.
What to Capture in Pathfinder Session Notes
In addition to ordinary story continuity, record:
- conditions or afflictions that persist beyond the session;
- treasure, consumables, and items whose ownership changed;
- downtime projects and their current state;
- faction reputation, promises, and access;
- character rebuilds or terminology choices related to legacy and Remaster material;
- rulings the table made when an official answer was not available during play.
Label a table ruling as a table ruling. Link back to Paizo or Archives of Nethys when the group later resolves it.
Example entries (illustrative, not from a real campaign):
| Category | Example entry |
|---|---|
| Persistent condition | Mira is still drained 1 after the ritual. Check it at the start of next session. |
| Item ownership | The party now holds the silver key. Tovan carries it. |
| Downtime project | Tovan is forging a replacement shield. Two weeks left. |
| Faction standing | The Gray Wardens owe the party one favor. |
| Table ruling | We let Recall Knowledge reveal one weakness. Verify on Archives of Nethys before using it again. |
Where AI Helps—and Where It Should Stop
After a session, AI can turn the transcript into a recap, suggest updates to characters, locations, factions, quests, treasure, and persistent conditions, and help answer questions about earlier events. For example: who took the silver key, what did the party promise the Gray Wardens, or which table ruling still needs a rules check?
Treat those updates as suggestions. Correct names against the transcript, review each change before it becomes part of the campaign record, and keep player-facing notes separate from GM-only information. AI can help find a rule or explain a passage, but it cannot decide how a rule applies at your table. Check mechanics and errata against Paizo's Pathfinder FAQ or Archives of Nethys.
A Practical Post-Session Workflow
- Capture the session in Discord or upload the table audio.
- Correct character, feat, spell, and location names in the transcript.
- Review the recap for rules assertions and mark table rulings explicitly.
- Approve changes to quests, factions, locations, and items.
- Send players the short recap and keep future threats in the GM-only record.
- Use campaign memory for preparation and official sources for mechanics.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Archivist support Pathfinder 2e?
Yes. Archivist can capture Pathfinder sessions, create reviewed recaps, and track campaign entities and quests. It is not a Pathfinder rules engine.
Can AI answer Pathfinder 2e rules questions?
AI can help locate or explain rules, but verify answers against Paizo, Archives of Nethys, or another current source, especially when Remaster and legacy terminology differ.
What should a Pathfinder campaign tracker include?
Track sessions, recurring entities, quests, faction changes, persistent conditions, item ownership, downtime projects, and any table rulings that still need an official check.
METHODOLOGY AND LIMITATIONS
Product documentation and rules resources were checked October 21, 2026. This guide links to Paizo's FAQ and errata, Archives of Nethys, Pathfinder Nexus, and the Foundry PF2e system. Features and rules can change; check those sources before relying on current details.
The 5.8% figure is from an anonymized Archivist admin snapshot of tagged active campaigns dated September 7, 2026. The session-share figures come from the linked August 2026 research snapshot. Both describe Archivist users and product data, not the Pathfinder player population as a whole. Archivist is system-agnostic and does not replace a Pathfinder rules engine.

The 5.8% figure is the share of tagged active campaigns in a September 7, 2026 snapshot; 5.6% and 10.0% are session shares for 2025 Q2 and 2026 Q2.
